— My Story

I am Randa Alami, a multidisciplinary Artist. I was born in Tangier, Morocco.

I spent my childhood and teenage years painting and crafting. My parents have always supported and encouraged my passion for drawing and encouraged me to envisage a future career that appeals to me. For that reason, I studied Fine Arts and then Graphic Design for two years in Moulay Youssef High School. After that, I joined the National Institute of Fine Arts in Tetouan where I studied Interior Design, and graduated in 2015.

In 2016, I founded my workshop (Atelier Mandarine) where I offer drawing and painting workshops for young and old and produce all my works which are then exhibited in various art galleries, both in Morocco and in other parts of the world.

Between 2020 and 2022, I studied a Master's degree in Rabat, in Aesthetic Education and Management of Art and Culture Professions.

After Graphics, I worked on interior design, products and jewellery design. All of that was gradually and without abandoning my previous works. I think that is what defines me as an artist: the freedom to express myself in different dis- ciplines and the curiosity to learn the idiosyncrasies of each one.

My inspirational Story from moroccan motifs

Since childhood, I have been immersed in the world of traditional craftsmanship. I grew up surrounded by the warm scent of leather in my grandfather's shop, where he made traditional Moroccan slippers. There, in that old shop, my appreciation for the beauty of fine craftsmanship was formed. I fell in love with the potter's patience, the precision

of the zellige decorations, the elegance of the geometric shapes that tell the legends of the ancients, the durability of wrought iron, and the warmth of that leather, whose scent still lingers in my memory.

In the midst of this beauty, my love for watercolors grew, and they became another vessel for my soul, turning into a passion that met with challenge. Over time, I realized that it not only resembled me, but was a reflection of my soul; like me, it combines the delicacy and purity of that craft with an untamed and playful wildness. Like me, she refuses to be confined to one boundary or color.

Just as my grandfather's hands taught me to read the spirit of materials and touch their raw beauty, the colors of water taught me, years later, to capture the pulse of the moment and its fleeting impression. It is like an engraving on skin, a condensation of the soul in a single dimension, encapsulating the scene in an eloquent and expressive summary, giving you the essence without tedious detail, and the spirit of the idea without the constraints of form, just as I do when I give free rein to my soul.

And so, my painting becomes a free dance between an unbroken legacy and an immortal nature. Here, on the white canvas, I bloom flowers with the delicacy of Zelig, I pass birds between the branches of wrought iron, and I paint fish swimming in rivers of blue porcelain. I do not paint a scene but weave my personal universe: where memory becomes a natural landscape, and nature becomes an eternal heritage. Here, in this visual dialogue, I find myself.

In the lap of nature

Nature is the mirror of her soul and her silent source of inspiration; it is in nature that she finds herself, and it is from its hidden magic that her creations spring. Her inspiration lies in its unnoticed details: the ancient cracks in tree bark, the necklaces of dewdrops hanging from leaves. These visual whispers remind her that true beauty does not shout, but whispers, and that her art is a humble attempt to capture this whisper and convey it to the world. It is her partner in creativity, giving her peace and awakening the essence of beauty within her.

My Professional Life

Studying fine arts has greatly contributed to broadening her perceptions and understanding of the art world beyond the purely creative aspect. Throughout her academic career, she gained insight into the cultural aspects that shape the visual identity of societies and how art reflects their values and history. Her studies also enabled her to understand the administrative and organizational mechanisms by which art galleries and institutions manage their medium-sized spaces, providing her with a comprehensive view of the art scene ecosystem. Each step in her educational journey was not merely a technical addition, but a cornerstone that nourished her creative vision and broadened her understanding of the complex interrelationship between art and society, and how creativity can be a driver of change and a mirror of reality.

Bridging Worlds: Art, Nature, and Heritage

In addition to her professional pursuits, Randa’s art has reached audiences through numerous exhibitions. Her work has been displayed in renowned galleries, such as Galerie Ibn Khaldoun and Galerie Delimbo in Seville, where she has shared the beauty of her vision with local and international audiences. Her exhibitions not only reflect her skills, but also her deep respect for culture and tradition, as she often blends elements of nature with traditional Moroccan arts in her work.

Arab Creativity on the Global Stage: Artist Randa Alami Puts Morocco in the Spotlight at "Africa Design Award" with a Design Embodying Cultural Identity
With a project blending authenticity and modernity... a Moroccan visual artist steals the spotlight at Africa's premier design award
This project aims to use Tangier's public squares as attractive recreational and cultural spaces.
The CENTRAL Library is dome-shaped, with a surface area of 9 metres and a structure 3 metres high. It offers a wide range of possible applications and aims to resemble natural vegetation while simultaneously incorporating the necessary strength, stability and comfort. The semi-spherical shape is a blend of traditional and modern architecture. The Central Library will offer passers-by a direct view of the books on display inside with its steel and plexiglass facades. It works surprisingly well in the open spaces of Tangier. It is the perfect information point in the city.

Large shawls in shaded satin and crepe, in shimmering colours, delicately blended to form incredible and unique gradients. These famous shawls are designed and printed with watercolour patterns, light and soft for elegant ladies.
